Pumpkin honey

Pumpkin honey is obtained from the nectar of pumpkin flowers. It is usually harvested at the beginning of fall. It has the color of dark amber and it has a bit of a floral flavor.

It is highly appreciated by gourmets since it can be used in preparing various desserts but also in combination with spiced ingredients, like the barbeque sauce. It is a delight for one's senses when mixed with yoghurt or sweet potatoes. Many have the impression that pumpkin honey has the same taste as pumpkin pie. Nothing further from the truth.

The aroma of pumpkin honey is amazing. Pumpkin honey is a seasonal type of honey, since it can be obtained only during the flowering period of the pumpkin, which is not a very long one. In addition pumpkin flowers do not have much nectar.
